Fisherman’s Friends on the BBC

This week, the Sunday Spotlight falls on The Fisherman’s Friends, shanty singers from Port Isaac in Cornwall. For the past 15 years, locals and tourists gather during the summer evenings to hear the ten-man group perform a rousing set of shanties and Cornish folk songs.

Made up of fishermen, lifeboatmen, coastguards, builders, hoteliers, and shop keepers, they’ve known each other since childhood and learnt their powerful brand of Cornish harmony singing at the local Methodist chapel.

Their album was recorded in the beautiful 15th-century church of St James in nearby St Kew, and Aled plays Brightly Beams Our Father’s Mercy.

I like this, i like the throwaway concept of painting and then starting again, the digital painting becomes a non-stop activity rather than producing a finished product.
